You can make calls to Directory Enquiry Services from BT's public or private payphones. Calls to 118 500 from payphones are charged in units of 10p for 3.1 seconds, subject to a minimum fee of 40p (including a 20p connection charge).

You can make a single UK residential or business enquiry by dialling 118 141 from a payphone (classified enquiries and onward connection are not available on 118 141). Calls to 118 141 are charged in units of 10p for 12.3 seconds, subject to a minimum fee of 40p (including a 20p connection charge).

If you're calling International Directory Enquiries 118 505 from a payphone, calls are charged in units of 10p for 1.5 seconds, subject to a minimum fee of 40p (which includes a 20p connection charge).
