How to get a new phone line, reconnect or switch to BT

1. Documentation
Ensure you have the following documentation to hand:
- Your addresses for the past two years
- Your bank details to set up a Direct Debit

2. Choose a plan
All telephone lines come with a calling plan. If you don't need a calling plan, just choose the Unlimited Weekend Plan as it's no extra cost. Other call plan and package options are below

3. Enter your details
- Enter your phone number and postcode and confirm your address.
- We'll run some checks and show if you need to pay the £124.99 connection charge. Most people don't have to pay this. More about connection charge.

4. Select any Add-ons or features
Get discounted mobile or international calls with our Add-ons, or personalise your home phone service with features like call waiting, 1571 and more.

5. Sort the details
Choose the date for the engineer to visit to install your telephone line (if required) – either 8am-1pm or 1pm-6pm.

6. Complete your order
- We'll send you a confirmation email then call to confirm your new phone number and engineer time (if required).
- You can track progress of your order here.
- You should be set up within 14 days!

- You don't need to contact your current provider – we'll do it for you
- Your phone line and calls will be with BT within 2 and 15 working days
- You can usually keep your phone number, even if you're a cable customer
- You'll need your addresses for the past 2 years plus your bank details to set up direct debit

Calling Plans and line rental:
Pricing. All prices quoted include VAT. Telephone line rental is £11.54 a month with Direct Debit and paper-free billing. Otherwise add £2.75 a month (£1.50 payment processing fee levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a BT Group company, plus £1.25 without paper-free billing discount). Discount appears as a bill credit. Set up paper-free billing online at www.bt.com/paperfree.
Unlimited Weekend Plan. Only £11.54 a month phone line rental with Direct Debit and paper-free billing, for new and existing residential customers. No minimum term, unless you order a new phone line or switch your phone line to BT from another provider, where a 12 month minimum term applies to line rental.
Unlimited Anytime Plan – 3 months free. Offer extended to 31st March. Available to new Unlimited Anytime Plan residential customers signing up for 12 months. Usual cost of Plan (£4.99 a month) payable from month 4. Discount via bill credit. Phone line rental payable at £11.54 a month with Direct Debit and paper free billing. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and may be withdrawn at any time. Exclusions and conditions apply.
Friends & Family Mobile. Cheap call rates provide a 42% discount to Daytime pence-per-minute rates to UK mobiles (excludes roaming mobiles) compared with BT standard rates. A 9.9p call set up fee applies.
