Getting started

You can see if your Broadband Talk service has been set up by checking the blue light on your Home Hub. If the blue 'Phone' light is lit, then your BT Broadband Talk service is activated and ready to use. You can either use your Hub Phone, or plug a normal phone into the green phone socket on the back of your Home Hub.

If the blue 'Phone' light on isn't lit, you'll need to activate the BT Broadband Talk – it only takes a couple of minutes.

  1. Go to www.bt.com/bbt and log in with the BT Broadband Talk phone number and password you were sent in your welcome email or letter. If you've forgotten your number or password, tell us your email address so we can resend. This needs to match the email address we have on our records – either the one you gave us when ordering broadband or your BT email address (ending in @btinternet.com).
  2. Click on the blue Configure hub/router button at the bottom of the page
  3. Click the red Configure button in the pop up window
  4. A message saying 'Configuration successful' will appear.

Making calls

Lift the phone handset, and if you're using a Hub Phone, press the green button. You'll hear the BT Broadband Talk dial tone, which has a slightly higher tone than the standard dial tone. Dial the number as usual.

You can still make standard landline calls on your phone – dial 5 to switch between BT Broadband Talk and your landline. You should hear the dial tone change when you do this.

Calling features

You can set up voicemail and other Calling Features like Caller Display and Call Forwarding at www.bt.com/broadbandtalk/youraccount.

You'll need your Broadband Talk number and password to set them up (If you need help, visit your number and password).

Remember that the voicemail for BT Broadband Talk is different to your landline voicemail. You can listen to your messages by dialling 1571 from your BT Broadband Talk line, but you can't personalise the BT Broadband Talk voicemail service with your own greeting.
