Totally Unlimted Usage

  • Some Internet service providers put restrictions on certain types of Internet traffic or limit how much you can download or upload which means at peak times of day, customers may experience slower speeds.
  • We don't think that's a good enough experience for BT customers so we have made all of our unlimited products 'Totally Unlimited'.
  • 'Totally Unlimited' means that you will be able to enjoy catch-up TV, streamed films, online gaming and other bandwidth-eating applications and we'll never slow you down.
Provider Traffic management policy Description
TalkTalk Yes (All packages) TalkTalk slow certain types of traffic during peak times.
O2 Yes (Some packages) O2 may slow users to 0.8Mb/s for watching videos or streaming online. This is slower than the recommended speed needed to watch a movie streamed online from a service such as Netflix or Lovefilm.
Virgin Media Yes (All packages) Virgin Media may slow users by up to 75% at peak times. Your experience would suffer if you watched more than 1 HD movie streamed online during peak times.
EE Yes (All packages) EE slow certain types of traffic during peak times.

TalkTalk Applies to Unlimited Broadband. Fair Usage Policy applies: TalkTalk slows down non time-critical peer to peer file sharing at peak times.

O2 Users on The Basics package may be slowed down when watching videos or streaming at peak times. O2 also slows down users on both the basics and The All Rounder package peer to peer traffic at all times.

Virgin Media Acceptable Use Policy may apply to heavy users and P2P/newsgroup traffic; traffic management measures may include reduction in upload and download speeds at peak times.

EE Fair Usage Policy applies: EE slows down peer to peer file sharing and newsgroups at peak times.

Superfast BT Infinity

BT offers two types of broadband

  • BT Broadband

    Up to 16Mb speed (ADSL Boadband)

  • BT Infinity

    Up to 76Mb speed (Fibre Boadband)

  • It needs to be installed by an engineer (at no charge)

BT Infinity delivers the internet at groundbreaking speeds of up to 76Mb, making it 8 times faster than the UK average. This means you can enjoy a faster online experience, like downloading films in the time it takes to make popcorn. Plus a reliable connection and stable broadband speeds means everyone at home can go online at the same time without interruption.

Can I get it?

BT Infinity is currently only available in parts of the UK (we're working on it!) but you can find out whether you can get your go-faster stripes by using our online speed checker.

If you can't get it just yet, order up to 16Mb broadband instead and we'll upgrade you to superfast BT Infinity as soon as it's available, for no extra cost (if you choose 40GB or Unlimited usage).
