What are early termination (hold to term) charges?
When you order services from BT there will normally be a minimum contract period of 12, 18 or 24 months. If you decide to stop receiving a service within this minimum period you'll have to pay an early termination charge.
Will I have to pay an early termination (hold to term) charges if I am beyond my minimum term?
No. Early termination charges only apply if you cancel within your minimum term. So for example if you took a 12 month contract and then sought to cancel 13 months later then no minimum charge would be payable.
What will I be charged?
What you're charged depends on how long is left to run on your contract. The tables below show how much you're charged for each month remaining. So for example, if you have six months left on your Unlimited Weekend Plan contract, you'll have to pay a charge of £2.50 multiplied by six, which is £15. You may also have to pay a charge for equipment related to the service you have.

What happens if I cancel part way through a month?
We work out the charge for any part month on a daily basis. So for example, if you took the Unlimited Weekend Plan on 1 January with a 12-month minimum period, and decided to cancel your contract on 12 November in the same year, you will be charged:
£2.50 x 1 (for December) + (£2.50 ÷ 30) x 18 (for 13th–30th November) = £1.50
Total charge £2.50 + £1.50 = £4
