BT Mobile – More places

Get the combined power of 4G and unlimited wi-fi in more places than O2, Vodafone and Three.

4G with BT Mobile is provided on the EE network. In Ofcom’s Connected Nations Report (1 Dec 2016), pg. 40, Ofcom analysed Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. This report shows EE had the highest 4G indoor and outdoor coverage in 2016 (89%, 64%) compared to O2 (88%, 52%), Vodafone (83%, 56%) and Three (84%, 55%). Mobile virtual network operators such as Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff, Lebara and Lycamobile use 4G offered by their MNO partners.

Additionally, BT Mobile customers get unlimited access to our wi-fi network, with over 5 million hotspots in the UK. The table below sets out the number of wi-fi hotspots these mobile providers offer with their 4G plans. BT’s wi-fi network is available to all its mobile customers.

Frequently asked questions

If you have broadband from BT at home you can get a £5 discount on mobile plans with us. You don't need to be the account holder – you simply need to live in a house or flat with a broadband connection from BT. What's more, everyone in the house can benefit from the discount.

Simply tell us you have broadband at home and we’ll show you the plans with a discount.

Not a problem! All you need to keep your number is a PAC code from your old mobile provider. A PAC code is 9-character code like 'ABC123456', that allows us to transfer your number from your old provider to BT. Once you've activated your SIM you can give us your PAC code and the transfer usually takes 24 hours. We'll keep in touch with you to let you know what's happening.

You can only order one mobile plan at a time, but that order can include multiple Family SIMs and you can come back later and order a second plan if you'd like. You're allowed up to five plans per account, but there's no limit to the number of people in a house that can order.

If you bought your phone from another mobile provider, it might be locked to only work with one of their SIM cards.

To find out if you need to unlock your phone, call your current provider, who'll be able to unlock it for you. (Your current provider may charge you to unlock it.)

Or, you can buy a new unlocked phone from the BT Shop.

We want to give you total control over your bill, so we give you some simple tools to manage your spending:

  • A monthly spend cap
  • A cap for spending while you're abroad
  • The freedom to change your cap any time at My Mobile
  • Text notifications when you're at 80% and 100% of your limit
  • The BT Mobile app to monitor your exact usage and allowance.

Log in to My Mobile to see your options.

Of course – if you’re not totally satisfied, you can cancel your order or return your items.

For mobile phone orders, you’ll need to let us know within 14 days of receiving the handset. Just call us on 0800 800 150 to arrange a return.

For SIM Only and Family SIM orders, we promise to give your money back after 30 days if you’re not happy. Just bear in mind that you won’t be refunded for any services you’ve used outside of your monthly plan allowance.

For more details on deliveries and returns, please go to mobile help.

If you order a phone before 4pm Monday to Friday or 11am on Saturday, we’ll aim to get your phone to you the next working day, including Saturdays. It might take up to 48 hours in some parts of the country, like the Scottish Highlands and Islands and parts of Cornwall.

SIM orders are sent via Royal Mail First Class, and are usually delivered next day. In some cases, delivery can take up to three days.
